Who We Serve

We serve young adults aging out of foster care or experiencing housing instability in the District of Columbia, Maryland, and Virginia. Many are transitioning into independent living for the first time, often without consistency family support or basic household resources.

For many young adults, a safe home and basic resources can make the difference between progress and crisis.

Here’s what’s up

Each year, approximately 20,000 young people age out of the foster care system in the Unites States. Many enter adulthood without permanent family support, basic household resources, or financial safety nets. As a result, a significant number experience housing instability, unemployment, or crisis during this critical transition period.

The Bridge Forward Project exists to help close that gap by providing household starter kits and emergency support to youth aging out of foster care or experiencing housing instability. By meeting essential needs at the moment of transition, we help young adults establish stability and move forward with greater confidence and independence.

What We Do

The Bridge Forward Project provides household starter kits and emergency support kits designed to meet essential needs at key transition points. Our support helps young adults focus on stability, work, and education instead of immediate survival needs
